About the play
BULLSHOT CRUMMOND is a parody of 1930's low-budget grade "B" detective movies. The production derives its humor from the audacious attempt to transpose effects normally reserved for films to the stage. These effects, like the plane crash and the car chase, whilst trying to fool the audience with their authenticity will never succeed but nevertheless remain highly inventive and consequently spectacular. It is essential that the characters be played as sincerely as possible. Any admission by the actor to the comedy of the situation will only weaken his credibility.
The Characters
Stu Stomberg is HUGH "BULLSHOT" CRUMMOND:
He is the archetypal British officer who fought in the trenches of France, laughs at danger and doesn't know the meaning of
the word fear.
Kim Stout is MlSS ROSEMARY FENTON:
She is an English rose of the most overdone genteel upbringing one can imagine. She is the type of woman
who will agree with anything a man says as she believes men to be superior to women. However, at points of danger she
comes through to show her true red blooded spirit.
Joe Simpson is OTTO VON BRUNNO (Joe also plays Salvatore
Scalicio):Von Brunno is a classic "B" movie teutonic villain while SALVATORE SCALICIO: is a stock type character we see on the TV series "The
Untouchables."
Adrienne Willems is LENYA VON BRUNNO:
She is Otto's mistress. Their only basis for a relationship is that they both worship evil. She also has an irrepressible desire
for Crummond. She has an evil laugh and takes pleasure in cruelty.
Randy Willems are: Algy Longwort, Professor Rupert Fenton, a country policeman, the Carlton waiter, Inspector Scabbard of
the Yard, Wolfgang Schmidt and Marovitch.
