Don't Dress for Dinner

French Farce proves laughter is the universal language

"Don't Dress for Dinner" will play two shows at the LCSC Silverthorne Theatre March 7th at 7:30 PM and March 8th at 2:30 PM. The play is presented by The Publick Demesne, Ltd., the company who brought “The Taming of the Shrew” to the Silverthorne last spring.

"Don't Dress for Dinner" is the sequel to "Boeing Boeing" which was filmed in the 1960s with Tony Curtis and revived on Broadway last year with the West Wing's Bradley Whitford in the lead. In the sequel Bernard (the role played by Curtis and Whitford) is older but apparently no wiser and hopes to have a dalliance with his mistress Suzanne while his wife, Jacqueline, is away for the weekend. Jacqueline's plans change and Bernard calls upon his old friend Robert to pretend to be the mistress' lover and so cover up the real reason for Suzanne’s visit. What Bernard doesn't know is that Robert and Jacqueline have weekend plans of their own.

The play mixes modern humor with complications and characters from classic farce as seen in the wise-cracking Suzette, the caterer's cook (yes, it's a catered affair). Robert mistakes Suzette for Suzanne, bringing more complications to the already complex game of musical beds.

Elizabeth and Don Greggain lead the cast as Jacqueline and Bernard. Suzette and Robert are played by LCSC students Kelly DeMeyere and Christopher Coursey and veteran community theatre actors Adrienne and Randy Willems complete the cast as Suzanne and George. The cast is under the direction of Tom Hennigan.

Tickets for the show are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students 13 and up and adults 55 and up. A group rate of $25.00 for ten tickets is available. LCSC students are admitted free with their ID cards. This show should be regarded as "PG-13" for language and subject matter. For more information call (208) 553-4352.

[Clarkston Country Club members can see the show in a dinner theatre venue at the club on February 28th and March 1st. Call the country club for reservations.]
