In Memoriam
We defy augury, there is special providence in
the fall of a Sparrow, if it be now, tis not to come. If it be not to come,
it will be now. If it be not now, yet it will come. The readines is all,
since no man of ought he leaves, knows what is't to leave betimes.
Let be.  -- Hamlet

Paul C. Wadleigh
Among Paul’s many accomplishments during his long tenure at WSU was founding “The Commedians” Shakespeare Company which toured one-hour versions of Shakespeare's plays (as adapted by Paul) to schools all across the state of Washington. The Shakespearean canon was also an important part of the regular WSU theatre season and of Summer Palace – the much beloved summer theatre program which was also Paul’s brainchild. With his passing this April we have lost a great theatrical artist, beloved friend, and a much needed advocate of the importance of Shakespeare to the education and enrichment of everyone

"Death lies on her, like an untimely frost upon the sweetest flower of all the field"
Rom & Jul, Act iv, Sc.4
