THE "SHREW" CREW
By Ole D .Spaulding Jr.

We painted our faces and donned a fine robe

To stride o'er the stage in costume once more

To deftly, in humor, the audience to probe
And keep them in seats, yea give them full score

Proud Petruchio did wed the shrew Kursing Kate

It didn't take long, to the church they did race
Whether wooing or spatting, they really were great

Delivering their lines sharp, like a slap in the face

The rest of the cast was in rare form indeed
Performing their roles in a manner good and just

From Grumio astride his crupperless steed

Biondello's rendering of a sword made of rust

Fair Bianca did weep, how Kate's tying did chafe

Baptista was so sage, wisely ruling his roost
Where rascals changed clothes yet honor was safe

Misapplied pretensions gave the plot a big boost

All in all, quite a playing, if you really must know

Twangling Jack and Cambio were never a threat

Neither was old Gremio, he had not enough dough

Hortensio and his widow, near the best of the set

Tranio, Lucentio, Vincentio and the pedant we knew

Travelers all, wending this Shakespearian road

Twas a pleasure indeed to be part of'Shrew' crew

Long down memories lane will I carry this load!
